I'm plugging, plugging away on my 3rd Shetland Triangle! I love this pattern and of course the Sundara Aran Silky Merino is TDF!
I cast on last night and this time I took my time so that I could take some step by step pictures for Sharon. Here you go my dear a mosaic just for you:)
- You crochet a few chains --I like to do more than what is required I think I made 8 or so chains
- Next you Take your working yarn and you knit 2 sts through the purl bumps on the back of your crochet chain --then you have 2 stitches on your needle
- Next you will knit 6 rows (take the 2 initial sts and knit them, turn your work, knit again, turn, knit again, --basically do this 6 times)
- You then end up with 6 rows of garter stitch... see that stretched out knit section above.
- Then (after knitting those 6 rows) you knit one more row and turn your work 90 degrees or horizontally Like I have above and pick up 1 stitch in each of those selvedge garter row sections --there are 3 spaces so thats 3 sts. Plus the original two gives you 5 sts.
- Then you undo the crochet chain and this will reveal two live stitches. You place those on your left needle. see the last two pictures at the bottom of the mosaic. Once these are on your left needle. Knit them. You will now end up with 7 stitches.
- You are almost ready to begin the pattern --neck area. In order to set things up right I --Purl this row and turn your work.
- this is the purl side so purl one row!

- Once your knit side is facing you --you are ready to begin the first part of the pattern: The neck area - 20 rows
Here are the step by step photos on Flickr Let me know if you need more details or information.
Last night I managed to complete the first 20 neck rows and I got 2 1/2 rounds in!!! 2 more rounds this morning Yay!
Here is the beginnings of my Shetland Triangle with Baby Jaguar for scale:)
Last night I read this story to 'Lil Cowboy:
The story entails this group of sheep that are going on a hike and picnic. They chart out a plan and trail, they persevere against great odds. They somehow get sidetracked and lost. Then they magically find their way back home by finding littlde sprinkles of roving and manage to re-trace their steps... The moral of the story I think is perseverence, teamwork, and having a good plan that pays off...
I am feeling a lot like these little sheep right about now:) Must keep knitting... Must keep knitting:)
I am almost done with the baby cardi. The booties and hat are next and all the seaming of course!
However, i must, mustl, must complete my Shetland Triangle first --so that while its drying I can finish off the baby set:) Good plan I think!
Stitches is on Friday and I want to wear my beautiful shawl - Sigh....
The baby shower for the purple set is on Saturday --so I do have a bit more time for that.

You are wonderful. This is a great reference. And you'll be glad to know, I now 'get it'. Taking the pictures was probably more tedious than the knitting, thanks so much my blog friend!

I agree, you definitely do knit fast! That Sundara yarn is soo gorgeous. Have fun at Stitches--I'm sure it will be a great time!
P.S. Schools are *not* closed in Michigan today (Presidents' Day). Kiddos in California are pretty lucky!
