My First Sweater!!!
Celebration time come on!!! Alert the media my Poppy is Complete! Here at Chez Marisol a certain someone is grinning from ear to ear! Let me tell you this certain someone can't seem to sit still:) She went from doing a happy dance to cleaning up her living room so that she could position this vision of loveliness for a well deserved photo shoot:
Poppy How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee when your oh so soft Noro Silk Garden and Cash Iroha brush against my skin,
- I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
- My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
- For the ends of Being and ideal first sweater.
- I love thee to the level of everyday's
- Most beutiful, by sun and candle-light.
- I love thee freely, as we strive for Right;
- I love thee purely, as the turning point of my craft.
- I love thee with the passion put to use
- In my old griefs, and with joys of discovering errors could be fixed.
- I love thee with a love I seemed not to have known before.
- With my lost confidence!---I love thee with the breath,
- Smiles, tears, of all my life!---and, if God choose,
- I shall but love thee better after spring and summer have past.
O.K. so forgive me Ms. Elizabeth Barret Browning -- I truly hope that you are not rolling in your grave right now... But I just had to use or should I say bastardize your poem. But for a good cause! To express the love of my first sweater! My Poppy!
I want to thank Lisa Shobhana Mason for creating such a wonderfully constructed pattern. One that was easy and fun to follow. I loved everything about this sweater the softness and vivid colors of the yarn, the construct, the attention to and variety of detail.
I also want to thank Scout for having socialized the idea of a Poppy KAL. Thanks Scout as always you Rock Girl!
Pattern: Poppy from Yarn Play by Lisa Shobhana Mason
Needles: Size 8 Addi Natura 29" circluars. I absolutely loved working with these needles. If I could, I would throw out all of my clovers and switch over in a heart beat. They have the smoothest connectors and they do not twist. Also used US 8 dpns and a size H hook to construct the sleeves and crochet finish around the collar and hem.
Cast On : Super Bowl Weekend February 3rd, 2007
Completed: March 23, 2007
Yarn: 7 skeins of Silk Garden in Reds, color # 84 and 4 skeins of Cash Iroha in color # 91 red. I adore this yarn! It has that handspun look and feel that I enjoy so much:)
Stay tuned, more pictures of me modeling it later tonight. I'll be doing my boogie dance wearing my Poppy and will ask my DH to take a few pics:)
O.K. Here we go--more pictures as promissed of me modeling and boogying to some cool Reggae:) This one is for you Karin
Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh, Marisol!! This is astounding! This is THE sweater I want to make for myself and seeing your results just makes me want my birthday to come sooner (exactly 3 months from today) and my large yarn purchase fast will end. I will buy the yarn to celebrate. Did you use the same colors as on the cover? Really. Great. Job.

It looks amazing!!! I love the way the verticle stripes are on the top half and then the bottom is vertical. That looks so cool. And that shade of red is beautiful on you.

The sweater looks great! As others have mentioned, the color is perfect for you and the fit is really great. I can't believe you've made two (essentially, with the Sloan vest) sweaters this year, and I still haven't seamed the sweater I started almost 2 years ago!
